कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन ।मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि ॥
You have a right to your actions alone, never to their fruits. Let not the reward be your motive, nor let yourself cling to inaction.
നിനക്ക് കർമ്മം ചെയ്യാൻ മാത്രമേ അധികാരമുള്ളൂ, ഒരിക്കലും അതിന്റെ ഫലത്തിലില്ല. കർമ്മഫലം നിന്റെ ലക്ഷ്യമാകരുത്; കർമ്മം ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കുന്നതിൽ ആസക്തിയും ഉണ്ടാകരുത്.

योगस्थः कुरु कर्माणि सङ्गं त्यक्त्वा धनञ्जय ।सिद्ध्यसिद्ध्योः समो भूत्वा समत्वं योग उच्यते ॥
Established in yoga, do your work, O Dhananjaya, free from attachment, the same in success and failure. This evenness of mind is called yoga.
ഹേ ധനഞ്ജയാ, യോഗത്തിൽ ഉറച്ചുനിന്ന്, ആസക്തി ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച്, വിജയപരാജയങ്ങളിൽ സമചിത്തനായി കർമ്മം ചെയ്യുക. ഈ സമത്വമാണ് യോഗം എന്ന് പറയപ്പെടുന്നത്.

The touch of the senses with their objects brings cold and heat, joy and sorrow, O son of Kunti. They come and go and do not last; bear them with patience, O Bharata.
ഹേ കൗന്തേയാ, ഇന്ദ്രിയങ്ങൾ വിഷയങ്ങളുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെടുമ്പോൾ തണുപ്പും ചൂടും സുഖവും ദുഃഖവും ഉണ്ടാകുന്നു. അവ വന്നുപോകുന്നവയും അനിത്യവുമാണ്; ഹേ ഭാരതാ, അവയെ ക്ഷമയോടെ സഹിക്കുക.

वासांसि जीर्णानि यथा विहाय नवानि गृह्णाति नरोऽपराणि ।तथा शरीराणि विहाय जीर्णान्यन्यानि संयाति नवानि देही ॥
Just as a person casts off worn-out clothes and puts on new ones, so the soul casts off worn-out bodies and takes on new ones.
മനുഷ്യൻ പഴകിയ വസ്ത്രങ്ങൾ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച് പുതിയവ ധരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ, ആത്മാവ് ജീർണിച്ച ശരീരങ്ങൾ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച് പുതിയ ശരീരങ്ങൾ സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നു.

Weapons cannot cut the soul, fire cannot burn it, water cannot wet it, and the wind cannot dry it.
ആത്മാവിനെ ആയുധങ്ങൾക്ക് മുറിക്കാനാവില്ല, അഗ്നിക്ക് ദഹിപ്പിക്കാനാവില്ല, ജലത്തിന് നനയ്ക്കാനാവില്ല, കാറ്റിന് ഉണക്കാനുമാവില്ല.

यद्यदाचरति श्रेष्ठस्तत्तदेवेतरो जनः ।स यत्प्रमाणं कुरुते लोकस्तदनुवर्तते ॥
Whatever a noble person does, others follow. Whatever example they set, the whole world walks the same path.
ശ്രേഷ്ഠനായ ഒരാൾ എന്തെല്ലാം ആചരിക്കുന്നുവോ, മറ്റുള്ളവരും അതുതന്നെ പിന്തുടരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം കാണിക്കുന്ന മാതൃകയെ ലോകം അനുസരിക്കുന്നു.

श्रेयान्स्वधर्मो विगुणः परधर्मात्स्वनुष्ठितात् ।स्वधर्मे निधनं श्रेयः परधर्मो भयावहः ॥
Better is one's own duty, even if done imperfectly, than another's duty done well. Better to fall in one's own duty; another's path is full of fear.
മറ്റൊരാളുടെ ധർമ്മം നന്നായി അനുഷ്ഠിക്കുന്നതിനേക്കാൾ, കുറവുകളോടെയാണെങ്കിലും സ്വധർമ്മം അനുഷ്ഠിക്കുന്നതാണ് ശ്രേഷ്ഠം. സ്വധർമ്മത്തിൽ മരണം പോലും ശ്രേയസ്കരം; പരധർമ്മം ഭയം നിറഞ്ഞതാണ്.

Whenever righteousness declines and unrighteousness rises, O Bharata, then I manifest Myself.
ഹേ ഭാരതാ, എപ്പോഴെല്ലാം ധർമ്മത്തിന് ക്ഷയവും അധർമ്മത്തിന് ഉയർച്ചയും ഉണ്ടാകുന്നുവോ, അപ്പോഴെല്ലാം ഞാൻ സ്വയം അവതരിക്കുന്നു.

To protect the good, to end the wicked, and to establish righteousness, I come into being age after age.

ഈ ലോകത്ത് ജ്ഞാനത്തിന് തുല്യമായ പവിത്രമായ മറ്റൊന്നുമില്ല. യോഗത്തിൽ സിദ്ധി നേടിയവൻ കാലക്രമേണ അത് സ്വന്തം ഉള്ളിൽത്തന്നെ കണ്ടെത്തുന്നു.

സ്വന്തം മനസ്സുകൊണ്ട് തന്നെത്താൻ ഉയർത്തുക; ഒരിക്കലും സ്വയം താഴ്ത്തരുത്. മനസ്സുതന്നെയാണ് ഒരുവന്റെ മിത്രം; മനസ്സുതന്നെയാണ് അവന്റെ ശത്രുവും.

Without doubt, O mighty-armed one, the mind is restless and hard to control. Yet through steady practice and detachment, O son of Kunti, it can be mastered.
ഹേ മഹാബാഹോ, മനസ്സ് ചഞ്ചലവും നിയന്ത്രിക്കാൻ പ്രയാസമുള്ളതുമാണ് എന്നതിൽ സംശയമില്ല. എന്നാൽ ഹേ കൗന്തേയാ, അഭ്യാസംകൊണ്ടും വൈരാഗ്യംകൊണ്ടും അതിനെ വശത്താക്കാം.

अनन्याश्चिन्तयन्तो मां ये जनाः पर्युपासते ।तेषां नित्याभियुक्तानां योगक्षेमं वहाम्यहम् ॥
To those who worship Me with undivided devotion, ever united with Me, I bring what they lack and preserve what they have.
മറ്റൊന്നും ചിന്തിക്കാതെ എന്നെ മാത്രം ആരാധിക്കുന്ന, എപ്പോഴും എന്നിൽ ലയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഭക്തർക്ക് ഇല്ലാത്തത് ഞാൻ നൽകുന്നു; ഉള്ളത് ഞാൻ കാത്തുരക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

पत्रं पुष्पं फलं तोयं यो मे भक्त्या प्रयच्छति ।तदहं भक्त्युपहृतमश्नामि प्रयतात्मनः ॥
Whoever offers Me a leaf, a flower, a fruit or a little water with devotion, that loving offering of a pure heart I gladly accept.
ഭക്തിയോടെ ഒരു ഇലയോ പൂവോ പഴമോ അല്പം ജലമോ എനിക്ക് സമർപ്പിക്കുന്ന ശുദ്ധഹൃദയന്റെ ആ സ്നേഹനിവേദ്യം ഞാൻ സന്തോഷത്തോടെ സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നു.

अद्वेष्टा सर्वभूतानां मैत्रः करुण एव च ।निर्ममो निरहङ्कारः समदुःखसुखः क्षमी ॥
Free of hatred toward every being, friendly and compassionate, without possessiveness or ego, steady in joy and sorrow, and ever forgiving — such is the true devotee.
ഒരു ജീവിയോടും ദ്വേഷമില്ലാത്തവനും, സൗഹൃദവും കരുണയും ഉള്ളവനും, മമതയും അഹങ്കാരവും ഇല്ലാത്തവനും, സുഖദുഃഖങ്ങളിൽ സമനും, ക്ഷമാശീലനും — ഇതാണ് യഥാർത്ഥ ഭക്തൻ.

सर्वधर्मान्परित्यज्य मामेकं शरणं व्रज ।अहं त्वां सर्वपापेभ्यो मोक्षयिष्यामि मा शुचः ॥
Setting aside all other duties, take refuge in Me alone. I shall free you from all sins; do not grieve.
എല്ലാ ധർമ്മങ്ങളും ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച് എന്നെ മാത്രം ശരണം പ്രാപിക്കുക. ഞാൻ നിന്നെ എല്ലാ പാപങ്ങളിൽനിന്നും മോചിപ്പിക്കും; ദുഃഖിക്കരുത്.
